Abstract:
      Effects of three kinds of flame retardants with different flame retardant mechanisms including gas phase flame retardant melamine(Mel),condensed phase dominated flame retardant aluminum hypophosphite(AP) and phosphorus-containing intumescent flame retardant(IFR) on the flame retardancy and physical properties of natural rubber(NR) were investigated.The results demonstrated that,at the same dosage of flame retardant,the compound filled with Mel exhibited the worst flame retardancy,the compound filled with AP showed intermediate flame retardancy,and the compound filled with IFR achieved the most optimal flame retardancy.Specifically,the compound filled with 50 phr IFR attained the V-0 flame-retardant rating and a limiting oxygen index(LOI) of 27%,indicating superior flame retardancy.Furthermore,under the high flame retardancy(V-0 rating),the compound filled with 50 phr IFR simultaneously maintained favourable tensile properties and wear resistance.Overall,the NR compound filled with IFR delivered the most balanced performance between flame retardancy and physical properties.
