Abstract:
The effects of brominated butyl rubber(BIIR) with additives and mixing process on the scorch safeties and other properties of BIIR medical rubber stopper compounds were studied. The results showed that, the calcium stearate and epoxidized soybean oil contents of BIIR had minimal effects on the scorch safety of BIIR medical rubber stopper compounds.Although antioxidant 1076 could extend the scorch time of BIIR medical rubber stopper compound, but its required dosage was larger, which had a negative impact on the compatibility between the medical rubber stopper and drug.Adjusting the mixing process by adding magnesium oxide in the first-stage mixing and lowering the first-stage mixing discharge temperature, both effectively extended the scorch time of BIIR medical rubber stopper compound without significantly affecting the physical properties of the compound and compatibility between medical rubber stopper and drug.
