| Abstract: |
| The effect of zinc dimethacrylate(ZDMA) on the adhesion between ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber(EPDM) compound and aramid cord used in V-belt was investigated. The results showed that the addition of 5 phr ZDMA in peroxide-vulcanized EPDM compound could reduce the Mooney viscosity of the compound, improve processability, and significantly enhance the crosslinking density,Shore A hardness, modulus at 100% elongation, tensile strength and tear strength, while maintaining a higher elongation at break.Furthermore,ZDMA remarkably enhanced the adhesive strength between EPDM compound and aramid cord, the adhesive strength between EPDM compound with 7.5 phr ZDMA and aramid cord reached up to 39.0 kN·m-1,which was 150% higher than that of EPDM compound without ZDMA. |
