Abstract: |
The effect of the vegetable oil softeners on the properties of natural rubber(NR)/reclaimed rubber blends was studied. The results showed that the addition of the palm oil minimized theFLand Mooney viscosity of the compound, resulting in the best flowability and processibility of the compound. The addition of the castor oil minimized theFmax-FL and t90 of the compound, with a decrease of 3.66% in t90.The addition of the palm oil increased the tensile strength, elongation at break and tear strength of the vulcanizates by 6.58%,43.47% and 106.90% respectively. The addition of the vegetable softeners improved the dispersion of carbon black in the rubber matrix and enhanced the wet skid resistance of the vulcanizates, with little impact on the rolling resistance of the vulcanizates. |
