Abstract:
      Several high performance specialty elastomers with special properties which can be applied in the field of non-tire rubber products and used under harsh environments in recent years are reviewed. Part 4 of this review introduces the developmental history and classification of fluoroelastomers,as well as describes in detail the composition and features of high performance fluoroelastomers derived from typical fluoroelastomers (type 1 and type 2 FKM). These high performance fluoroelastomers include fluoroelastomers with high fluorine content,peroxide curable fluoroelastomers,low temperature resistant fluoroether elastomers(type 3 FKM)[perfluoromethyl vinyl ether(PMVE)and perfluoromethoxy methyl vinylether (MOVE) elastomers],perfluoroether elastomers resistant to extreme environments,baseresistant fluoroelastomers—trifluoroethanol/propylene copolymer (tetrapropylene fluoroelastomer ), trifluoroethanol/ethylene/PMVE and trifluoroethanol/propylene/vinylidene chloride terpolymers (type 4 FKM),trifluoroethanol/hexafluoropropylene/vinylidene chloride/ethylene/PMVE pentapolymer(type 5 FKM) and trifluoroethanol/tetrafluoroethylene copolymer(type 6 FKM). This article reports domestic and foreign research and development information in the field of high performance fluoroelastomers,focusing on the recent progress of high performance fluoroelastomers in China.
