The electrical conductivity and physical properties of thermoplastic polyolefin elastomer
(POE) compounds filled with different amounts and types of carbon black(conductive carbon black CSX946
and VXC72 and carbon black N550) were studied. The results showed that, within the tested range of carbon
black amount(30~80 phr),with the increase in the amount of conductive carbon black CSX946,the volume
resistivity of the POE compound decreased, the Shore A hardness and modulus at 100% elongation increased,
and the tensile strength and elongation at break were decreasing. When the amount of conductive carbon
black CSX946 was 80 phr,the volume resistivity of the POE compound was the lowest, the Shore A hardness
was the largest, and the tensile strength and elongation at break could still meet the performance requirements
of car body obstacle detection sensor. Among the three types of carbon black, the conductive carbon black
CSX946 had the smallest particle size, the largest surface area and the highest structure, the conductive
carbon black CSX946 (80 phr of the amount ) filled POE compound had the smallest volume resistivity
and the largest modulus at 100% elongation and tensile strength. Compared with the POE compound filled
with only conductive carbon black CSX946 at the amount of 80 or 45 phr,the volume resistivity of the POE
compound filled with the same amount of conductive carbon black CSX946 and processing additive calcium
stearate or zinc stearate did not change much. |
