Abstract: |
Two kinds of coupling agents (Si-69 and B-69), an ionic liquid (1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide, abbreviated as BMIM) and the combination of coupling agents and BMIM, were incorporated into NR filled with silica. The properties of compounds and vulcanizates of NR filled with unmodified and modified silica were investigated. The results showed that, compared to modified silica/NR, NR filled with Si-69, B-69 or BMIM had faster vulcanization rate and weaker Payne effect which generated better mechanical properties and lower rolling resistance. And the NR filled with silica modified by BMIM had the most excellent overall performance whose tensile strength and tear strength were two times more than NR filled with silica unmodified. In contrast to NR filled with silica which was modified only by coupling agents, for silica/NR modified by both BMIM and coupling agent, the optimum curing time was further shortened, the crosslinking density was greater, the interaction between modified silica and NR was stronger, then the mechanical properties were further improved and the rolling resistance got an additional decline. |
