Abstract:
Modified silica and siliceous earth suspension were prepared respectively, then mixed with natural rubber (NR) latex and silica / NR and siliceous earth / NR masterbatches were prepared. In mixing process, two kinds of masterbatches was mixed according to different ratio, a series of hybrid fillers/NR composites were gotten, and total filler loading of all samples fixed at 40 phr. The vulcanization test results show when adding a certain amount of siliceous earth, which is beneficial to enhance liquidity at the beginning stage of NR vulcanization, reduce the stiffness of the NR composites and increase curing rate. The RPA test results show that when adding a certain amount of siliceous earth in silica can improve the dispersion of fillers and the processing performance of the rubber, Payne effect reduce dramatically. Tan δ of NR vulcanization reduce obviously after adding siliceous earth which indicate rolling resistance reducing. The measure of crosslinking density show that crosslinking density of silica filled NR attend to maximum, and all hybrid filler filled NR are lower than only silica or siliceous earth filled NR. Tensile and tear performance test results show tensile strength and tear strength increased with the increment of siliceous earth loading. When silica and siliceous earth work together, the elongation at break are significantly higher than single filling silica or siliceous earth.
