Abstract:
In the present study, chlorinated polyethylene elastomer (CM) was modified with γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550). Then, under catalysis of dibutyltin dilaurate (DBTDL), the modified CM was crosslinked in a water bath via hydrolysis-condensation of KH550. The study was mainly focused on gel content of the cured CM, the affects of water concentration and DBTDL concentration on curng CM and its kinetics characteristics were investigated in detail. Besides, the crosslinked CM was characterized by FTIR and TMA, and the main factors that influence curing of the modified CM were also discussed. The results showed that silane crosslinking technology is an efficient route to cure CM, and either the concentration of DBTDL and H2O in the external environment, or temperatures and times of the sample were immersed in a water bath played important roles in crosslinking the modified CM.
