Title:Progress in Research on the Applications of the Trans-polyisoprenc Rubber

Abstract:

The trans-polyisoprenc rubber is a new polymer which includes two kinds of materials, that is, TPI and Eu-commia Ulmoide Gum (EUG). TPI or EUG is a polymer material which is a isomer of NR or IR with the excellent performances such as a good insulation with acid and alkali, the plastic duality compared with the general rubber. It is hard at room temperature, with a low melting point and the excellent low-temperature plastic workability or higher toughness compared with the normal plastic. In addition, eucommia rubber also has the excellent compatibility with other rubber and plastic material. Due to the rich resources of the natural eucommia rubber and synthetic TPI, if it is widely used as plastics toughening modifier and functional rubber to mix with natural rubber or synthetic rubber, there will be good prospects in the application of the green tire, noise absorber and TPV. In this paper, the mechanical properties, processing properties, abrasion, dynamic properties, toughness or crystallization behavior for the different blends of the plastic and rubber with TPI or EUG were reviewed to find the best mixing. The results showed that the impact strength of plastic blended with small amount of the eucommia rubber could be improved as much as twice. The survey of dynamic and fatigue properties of the vulcanizate indicated that the blends of NR / EUG have a good anti-abrasion, high fatigue life and lower heat generation with the increase of addition amount of eucommia rubber. Morphology of the fracture surfaces observed by SEM demonstrated that the brittle fracture of pure plastic material transformed to the ductile fracture with the increase of eucommia rubber and SEM of the vulcanizate was discussed.

Keywords:TPI; eucommia rubber (EUG); plastic toughness; mechanical property; crystallization behavior; dynamic properties; vulcanizate
